A family affair

A hot sunny day greeted the 18 Enterprises who were to take part in the racing, unfortunately the light easterly wind which had greeted the sailors on their arrival at Hampton Sailing Club died away to almost nothing and caused a postponement of the first race.
Among the 18 competitors were visitors from Broadwater, Gratham Water, Island Barn, Lensbury, London Corithian, Minima and Strand on the Green Sailing Clubs.
Once the racing could commence, the first of the three races was to be dominated by two brothers.
David Beany from Broadwater S.C. crewed by Alex in 20234 The Blank Bean leading for the first half of the race before being overtaken by his brother Alan from London Corithian S.C. crewed by Jessica Holley in 23048 Bean Squared.
The next three positions were closely contested, with their positions changing from lap to lap, but it was to be James Armitage from Strand on the Green S.C. crewed by Joseph in 21408 “Porpoise” who managed third.
The second race once again saw David Beany in the lead, a position he held throughout the race, but this time pursued by Neil Parsloe from Broadwater S.C. crewed by Siobhan Ladyman in 22629 with James Armitage again taking third spot.
Just prior to the start of the third and final race the wind swung through 180 degrees to become a westerly and the course was set to accommodate this, only for the wind to swing another 180 degrees leading to some frantic course changes in the last seconds before the start sequence. This race was again to be a contest of the brothers with Alan Beany managing to get well clear of his brother David by the end of the race. Third place being taken this time by Steve Collins from Minima S.C. in 22628 Old Grey Fox.
