Booth and Dercksen win Zwitserleven Round Texel

Over 500 cats took to the startline

Initially, Zwitserleven team Booth/Dercksen got a black flag for starting too early. Later, the jury decided that they could not be certain whether it was concerning this team. After all, there are several catamarans with the same number. That makes the team of mainsponsor Zwitserleven the overall winner on handicap of the world’s biggest Catrace. The Olympic sailors reacted enthusiastically: “It was again a beautiful race. Nice to have won this together.” The Boulogne brothers from France, the current Formula 18 world champions, are with their Cirrus the numbers two overall, followed by Darren Bundock and Glenn Ashby on a Hobie Tiger.

Hans Bouscholte and Ruurd van Wieren were the first finishers in the 27th Zwitserleven Round Texel. They passed the finishline after 2 hours en 41 minutes. Said Bouscholte: “This was our goal, we wanted to have line honours and wanted to stay ahead of the Tornado’s.” According to Van Wieren the last part of the race was the most difficult one. Van Wieren: “There were strange waves and our competitors were much faster, but we managed to stay ahead.” Second in line were Enrique Figueroa and Jorge Hernandez. The third team to finish was the British crew Simon Northrop and Matt Young
