Wind foils racing
Sunday May 16th 2004, Author: Peter Danby, Location: United Kingdom
Everything was in place for another day of great Skiff racing. 12 boats were rigged and ready in the sunshine at Calshot; the Royal Thames Yacht Club's team of organisers were there in their RIBs; and race officer Frank Newton was out on the course aboard the committee boat Sorebones. There was only one missing ingredient: wind.
Unlike yesterday, when the sea breeze obliged to allow three good races to take place, it just didn't happen today. Consequently, yesterday's placings stand as the results of the second round of the 2004 UK 18 foot Skiff Grand Prix.
Results:
1. Base 1, Rob Dulson, Paul Constable and Alex McKinlay (1,1,4) 6 pts
2. Link Associates, Tim Penfold, Matt Alvarado and Will Penfold (3,3,1) 7 pts
3. Hermes, Ed Browne, Mark Tait and Lachlan Torrance (2,4,2) 8 pts
4. Skifftastic, Peter Barton, Martin Borrett and John Heissig (4,2,3) 9 pts
5. Radii, Andy Richards, Andrew Fairley and Dave Richards (5,5,6) 16 pts
Half a dozen boats will be leaving the UK during the coming week to compete in the European International event in Palau, Sardinia, on 6-12 June.
