Evans and Peacock win Worlds

Top results for British sailors at 29er World Championships

The final day for the 29ers brought classic sun and wind with big waves in Laredo, the 49ers also had a big day and continue their championship for another 2 days.

Dave Evans & Rick Peacock wrapped up the 29er worlds with a race to spare. In the 20 knot breeze they scored a 1st and 2nd proving they can win in the light and heavy breezes. Tom Smedley & Stevie Wilson, usually very strong in a blow had a bad day scoring a 17 and a 9 in the first two races of the day blowing their chances of winning the championships and forfeiting their overnight 2nd place to the Argentinean team of Pepe Bettini & Frederico Villambrosa.

Smedley & Wilson stopped the rot in the last race of the day - scored a 2nd and halted the final day charge from Ollie Page & James Perry.

Team GBR excelled overall with no less than 11 boats in the top 14. Thanks go to the coached and the parents!
