GP14s at Hampton

A tricky, brisk northerly wind greeted the 15 boats on Sunday who were competing in the GP14 open meeting at Hampton. Visitors from Frensham Pond, Papercourt, North Herts & East Beds, Shustoke complemented a full turn out of the Hampton GP fleet.
The first race saw the lead being contested between Kevin Anderson from Hampton crewed by his daughter Sadie, David Innes from Frensham Ponds crewed by Wendy Innes, and James Ward from Papercourt crewed by Richard Whitehill. James Ward climbing from third after three laps to take the bell at the end.
Race two again saw Kevin Anderson and James Ward competing for the top spot but with another Hampton sailor, Keith Edwards crewed by Nicki Gaulter separating them to take second place behind Kevin Anderson at the end.
The final race was to be won by the commodore of Hampton Sailing Club, John Hollands crewed by Alan Fuller who are normally to be found in the Enterprise and Merlin Rocket fleets, so possible converts for the future?
Second was David Innes with Kevin Anderson climbing from tenth spot after the first lap to take a creditable third in the race.
Final results:
1. Kevin Anderson crewed by Sadie Anderson in 10556 Red Rampage from Hampton Sailing Club
2. James Wood crewed by Richard Whitehill in 13316 Scooby Doo from Papercourt Sailing Club
3 . David Innes crewed by Wendy Innes in 13708 Jaldi from Frensham Ponds Sailing Club
4 . Keith Edwards crewed by Nicki Gaulter in 10556 Escargot from Hampton Sailing Club
