Goacher wins with day to spare

Race 7
For the first time this week the wind developed into a good solid, steady Force 4 from the ENE with a good swell. Racing started on time with two boats over the line. 3429 Colin Fletcher did not return and was therefore disqualified. Steve Goacher 3721 once again led from start to finish to post his sixth win of the week. Simon Kneller 3699 was second . Ian Cleaver 3635 was up with the leaders but retired after a finishing line protest with Alan Bax 3786 who then took third place.
In the Classics the predictable winner was David Hill 671 who posted his 7th win of the series having established a big lead by the first mark. Mike Jones 2645 was in second place but lost out when he lost his crew David Travis overboard.

Race 8
The wind veered easterly and remained a constant 16 knots. Simon Kneller led from the windward mark, holding his lead on the two reaches until he lost sight of the leeward mark allowing Steve Goacher to sail past on the inside.These first two boats kept their positions until the gun followed by Bax/Weatherspoon in third place. Brian McKee despite having to do turns at a mark steamed through the fleet to take fourth place.
Ian Cleaver this time completed the race finishing fifth.
First Silver boat was Miffy 3040 who clearly enjoying the windier conditions came in 14th to complete a good double for the day.
The Classics followed the familiar pattern this time Mike Jones holding onto his crew and second place.
