MadforSailing takes a quick look at the Scorpion, a fast sit-out, one-design class

This one-design is available in foam sandwich as well as the original plywood construction and has traditionally been built to a very high standard.

The hull is lighter than its contemporaries and although rather narrow in beam, compared with more recent designs, it is a very fast planning boat under spinnaker.

There is a small but keen UK open circuit with well attended Nationals. The Scorpion is an easily handled boat that provides good sailing without drama.
