Tornado - In Brief

MadforSailing takes a quick look at the Tornado, the classic Olympic catamaran

TornadoOlympic catamaran class status means that the high cost of competitive boats has restricted the growth in the UK.

Although designed in 1967, the Tornado is still a good performer at the large catamaran handicap events, even against much newer designs, and the class has gained something of the aura of a classic.

Second-hand boats are available cheaply and provide tremendous performance for the cost. Boats are available built in hot or cold moulded wood or GRP foam sandwich.
