Packaging manufacturer comes on board for Mini Transat campaign

Nikki Curwen's Mini campaign has received an 11th hour shot in the arm thanks to backing from Disc Manufacturing Services Ltd (DMS).

DMS specialises in plastic free packaging, as one of the UK’s leading CD, DVD and Vinyl and Plastic Free Packaging suppliers. Pack It In! aims to raise awareness of and reduce the damage caused to the world's oceans by waste plastic. They are Curwen's title sponsor in her bid to following in her father Simon's footsteps, by competing in the Mini Transat that start from Douarnenez on 13 October.

If DMS sounds familar, it is because the company backed Pete Goss in his Class40 entry in the Route du Rhum and has since sponsored Conrad Humphries' Figaro campaign in 2011.

Pete Goss christened Nikki Curwen's Mini last Saturday at a christening ceremony in Plymouth.

"Having he boat officially named DMS by legendary British sailor Pete Goss, was a great honour to both the boat and myself," said Curwen. "I read Pete’s book at a very young age and it was what originally inspired me to try offshore sailing. It was a great day for all involved down in Plymouth, and a huge thank you to all of you for being so welcoming."
