Yvan Bourgnon and his elder brother Laurent are not known for their restraint when it comes to sailing 60ft trimarnas. Bourgnon the elder, was the gentleman who established the outright 24 hour record of 540 miles, the last record to be set before the age of the maxi-cats and all the most amazing because he did it singlehanded.

Yvan, Laurent's young brother then took over this boat and in the 2000 Quebec-St Malo race was a fraction of a mile from reclaiming the 24 hour with the same boat (at the time the record was 625 miles and held by Grant Dalton's Club Med).

Despite being somewhat long in the tooth Yvan Bourgnon has got the boat, now rechristened Rexona Men, entered in the Route du Rhum. In this is holds a rather impressive track record, winning the race in both 1994 and then again in 1998.

The brave man being towed along at high speed by this raging trimaran is World Champion waterskier, Patrice Martin.
