Tenth to first

It was another painfully light wind day at the Finn Masters World Championship in Hungary

Day four, Thursday, of the Finn World Masters Championship saw the first fleet away with no problems. The second fleet was only successful on their second attempt following a large wind shift to the east making a course change necessary.

The shift that forced the restart of the second fleet had a dramatic effect on the first fleet who were at that time approaching the first leeward buoy. Most affected was Székely Antal (HUN) who was catapulted from tenth to first shortly after his leeward mark rounding. On the flip side fellow Hungarian, Szilvássy Attila, was leading the fleet, a position that would have seen him take the lead overall, before he was unceremoniously dumped by the fickle wind back to eighth place.
At the end of the race the wind had dropped so much the Race Committee decided shorten the second group and finish them on the run.

The overall leader at this stage is Michal Meier (CZE) who finished fourth today in group one. He is being closely followed by Andrée Budizen who finished third in the second group and sits within one point of first place. Following the two of them Michal Gubi (AUT) is sitting in third place.

As the wind shut down it was another day where only one race could be sailed. Tomorrow is the last day of racing at the event and competitors will be hoping for some steady breeze to get some more races in.
