Alex Bennett autobiography

The life and times of the West Country- based Ex-Team Philips crewman

Monday February 14th 2011, Author: James Boyd, Location: United Kingdom

Alex Bennett has launched his new autobiography entitled High Seas, High Stakes.

A young boy’s dreams of adventures on the high seas grew into a passion for racing and an ultimate ambition – to build a state of the art racing yacht and compete in the legendry solo transatlantic ocean race. Bennett describes how he won his class in the Transat Jacques Vabre, setting a new record and achieved the best British result in the 20 year history of the prestigious Mini Transat race.

As part of Pete Goss' infamous Team Philips project for The Race in 2001, Bennett shares his personal insight into the fight for survival when the ill-fated giant catamaran was destroyed by a storm mid-Atlantic.

Bennett has raced through some of the most unforgiving places on the planet. This is a revealing and honest account of the highs and lows of life in the fast lane of high octane ocean racing. It is an inspiring story of the determination needed to succeed and achieve one’s dreams.

Alex said, “Writing this book has been a fantastic, uplifting journey. It’s taken a year to create, but thanks to some professional support from my sponsors I’m over the moon to finally see it in print.”

The book goes on sale today and is available online at www.alexbennett.co.uk
