Board changes at Quebec City-Voile Internationale Quebec, organisers of the Quebec-St Malo

Quebec City--Voile Internationale Québec is pleased have appointed a new board which is already hard at work organising the next Quebec-Saint-Malo Transat to be held during the summer of 2012.

Sylvain Gagné is the new Chairman replacing Jacques Gingras. Jean Lemay is the new Executive Vice-President and Normand Nadeau the other Vice-President. Yves Dion is Treasurer and André Boulanger the Secretary. Pierre Daignault and Marie Simard are also members of the board and Jean-Claude Maltais continues in his capacity as Race Director.

"La Transat Quebec-Saint-Malo is a world-class event and has acquired a solid and enviable reputation among long-distance ocean races", said Sylvain Gagné, who vowed "to work hard with his colleagues to maintain the reputation of this great event."

Voile Internationale Quebec between Transat races devotes a lot of its energy in helping develop sailing as a sport in Quebec and promoting the Saint-Lawrence River one of our greatest assets.

La Transat Quebec-Saint-Malo is also an economic success generating more than $7 million dollars in activity in 2008 as well as a great deal of media interest and coverage especially in Europe, thus giving Quebec City an extra boost of international visibility.
